Humble Beginnings

The Chicago club was formed as The American Section of the British Mercedes-Benz Club in 1955.  After formally detaching from the British Club, they received a formal charter from the State of Illinois on June 21, 1956 as “The Mercedes-Benz Club of America."

The New Jersey-based “Mercedes-Benz Club of America” was formed on June 6, 1956 and incorporated on November 22, 1956 as the Mercedes-Benz Club of America, Inc.  In January 1957 the first issue of “The Star” was published as an 8-page, multi-lithed newsletter

On April 21, 1959, after years of negotiations, the two clubs merged into today’s club.

Today the Mercedes Benz Club of America has 85 sections in the United States and Canada with over 25,000 members.
